Chocolate "Sweetheart" Dinner Extraordinaire
Sunday, February 14, 2010

chocolate
The Chocolate Dinner Extraordinaire is quickly becoming a favorite with "those in the know."   This year it will be extra special as it will feature recipes favored by Abraham Lincoln!

In 2010 this six course dinner will be especially exciting as it actually will take place on Valentine's Day and will also be part of the promotion for the Lincoln Exhibit in March 2010.  It will also highlight the many possibilities of adding everyone's favorite food (chocolate) to any course from salad to entree!

The celebration of Valentine's Day and Lincoln's Birthday begins with fun activities
(M&M bingo anyone?) at 3:00 pm.
Appetizers (with chocolate of course) will tempt you at 4:00 pm.
Dinner (again full of chocolate surprises) will be served at 5:00 pm.
In addition to all the delicious food, there will be silent auction items and a raffle.

Ask anyone who has enjoyed this unique Dinner and you will know this is just the place to take that someone special or for a group of friends to celebrate Valentine's Day!

King Vintage Museum

The Wild Wonderful King Vintage Museum has been accepting visitors from around the world since 2002 and moved October 2008 to its new, expanded location at 40680 Highway 41 in Oakhurst just north of the Days Inn.

The museum opened with a feature exhibit of the Civil War era. The main feature changes each season. The featured exhibits have included a Bridal Collection, Nifty Fifties, Winter Wonderland, Textures and Styles, and more.

Visit the Victorian Room and see the 1790 ballroom slippers worn by Miss Lucy Wilson; the new exhibit Dressing a Victorian Woman; dresses from the 1800's; and purses, fans, and hats from centuries past. Other exhibits include a Civil War sword, Civil War discharge papers, and military uniforms. In addition, there is a children's area as well as shelves lined with a fantastic hat collection of cloches, bonnets, cartwheels, mourning bonnets, and more dating back to the Victorian times through the 1960's.

The new exhibit features fashions through the Decades of 1910 -1950.  The opulence of the turn of the century, World War I, the Great Depression and World War II all had dramatic effects on fashion and this exhibit reflects fashion's response to these events.

Step back in history and learn about the lifestyles of and fashion of the past era and see the beauty of vintage fashion. Learn about the efforts that the museum has taken to preserve the collections for generations to come.

Please also take a moment to check for the current updates and information about the upcoming Lincoln Exhibit coming in 2010.  This Exhibit will be visiting 40 different locations in the United States, 4 of which will be in California.  We are thrilled and proud to be 1 of the 4 sites.  We welcome everyone to plan to visit this special Exhibit!
